Kaldbak's traditional turf-roofed church was built in 1835. MS Tróndur was the last of the traditional "milkboats" that served the Faroese villages before the islands' road network was greatly improved.

The photograph provides an illustration of the increasing importance of the Greenland fisheries to the Faroese during the 1930s.
